Well, as we delve into the mystery that is the month of March, I'd love to tell you all about the tour of Portage/Winnipeg in a point-by-point synopsis
-Saturday morning, 9:15 as we're getting ready to go, my mom calls me and tells me of my new nephew, Kohen Lynton Daniel Howes, weighing in at 9 pounds! (I don't know if I spelled his first name right, mom didn't tell me that part). So I was quite excited as we left the city for our trek east.
-The trip was very safe and sunny, with stops in Regina for gas and taquitos, Moosomin for Dairy Queen and a driver switch, Brandon for drumsticks, gas and a phonecall to Brett (in which i told Jason to 'piss off' in the process), and finally, Portage, where we immediately set up the stage and proceeded downstairs for a bucket of fried chicken. (We also teased Piper from Moosomin to Portage for his slowness in driving)
-While downstairs at the church I was waiting very patiently for Rebecca and Brett to show up, while the rest of the team teased me with "Did the door just open!!!!!!!!" Jerks. I was getting a little antsy, but after supper, we went upstairs to practise, and Brett called me to inform me that they would be showing up, I couldn't wait!!!! So, I missed the first 2 practise songs while I waited by the door... then finally, i propped it open with a broom and made a mad dash for the stage, and tried to act as normal as possible.
-The arrival. They walked in. I almost wet myself, and everyone in the band was making fun of me in their heads as we practised. At the end of the song, Daniel shouted out 'greetings!' and we continued on with our practise for a few more songs, and I couldn't stop smiling!
-After the practise, I ran to the back of the sanctuary, gave hugs, introduced the gang (and introduced Becca as 'scary'), figured out billets, and headed off to Gail's for supper and entertainment. (People feed us too much on these trips, honestly, that day, I ate a muffin, a taquito, a hotdog, chicken, french fries, coleslaw, a dinner roll, lasagna, and chips). We decided to play a word/picture puzzle game that I was half good at, and half bad at. I'm currently waiting for my official membership to the 'unblond' club to arrive in the mail. I mean, some were just so obvious that I over analyzed them, and came up with stupid answers for, others I would blurt out without realizing that it was the answer... to be brief, it made me feel very stupid at times. Then came sequence, which I almost won a couple of times with Kendra, but the Tanya/Brett force proved too strong. The night ended off with a ride to my billets, and a lovely kiss....
-The next day was a casual start, I didn't have to get up early at all, like 9, which is phenominal for when we're on tour. I've woken up at 4:30 before to be on the road, so this was manageable. I was the first to arrive at the church of the team, so I proceeded to set up the promo table, and say hi to Mr. Stiller (who obviously doesn't know my name). Then came the church service, 15 minutes before I had expected, so that made my friends 15 minutes late. Sorry guys, the website told me 10:45!!!!!!!!! The service went well, but the preaching was too long. So yeah. Too long. After that was a lovely all chopsticks meal at Dick's Cafe, and then back into the van.
-The drive to Winnipeg was uneventful, and we went to Sarah's place to hang out and relax. Of course, food was involved. So far, I had eaten chinese for lunch, and they fed us chips of all varieties, along with iced tea (made with real lime). After settling down at the Kendrick's, we got dressed and arrived at the church at 4:30 for a soundcheck, where we set up our stage, and jammed a little, and I adjusted to the v-drums once again. After that, they fed us pizza, and Sara, Jana and I looked for a phone to warn the others of the different service time (luckily, they were already en route, so it wasn't as big of deal as I had planned). upon their arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Fishey, Brod, Karyn, Andrew, Becca and Brett. My posse had arrived!
-We sat as a band together on the side during the praise and worship, and then we were called on stage to do the offering and our set. All 3 songs went really well, especially Audience of One, because I HATE 6/8 time when I'm on the drums. We got a good response from the audience, and a nice embarassing comment about my drum playing from the senior pastor. If only he knew I was the regular bass player, lol. It was really good. Then I went and sat with my crew, and got to hold my man's hand. It was very nice. I like going to church with Brett, I especially like standing beside him when we sing. It's so nice to hear him sing, because he always sings his heart out ;). We sat through another eternal sermon, I introduced my posse to a couple of the interns from the school, and we gathered downstairs under the umbrella of fellowship, lol.
-Downstairs, we had a nice time, and the band came and sat with the posse, and I ended up selling my drumsticks to a 10 year old, whom Andrew had connected with. I also signed them, along with others in the group. The kid now thinks that Brett is a pilot from Arizona. How interesting... and Becca's storytelling has now infiltrated the likes of my group. Jana especially enjoyed the stories of me sleeping. After fellowship we went and had a tour of the church, and then we had to say good bye to Becca and Brett, as it was getting late (and yes, I most definitely did kiss him goodbye, I don't get to see him that often, dammit!)
-After church, we then went to Moxie's for drinks and appetizers, and we got to chat it up with Pastor Trevor, who is the young adult's pastor at CT. He seems nice. In 2 weeks when we go back to Winnipeg, we'll be staying an extra day to do their young adult's night. He also paid for our food, which was an incredibly nice thing to do for us poor college students.
-When we finally got back to Sarah's house, we went downstairs and relaxed until bedtime. We then woke up at about 7:40 am to get going back home. The ride home was fairly uneventful, but we did see 5 cars in the ditch. Kind of unsettling. All well. We made it home safe!
Now it's back to normal time here, and I'm trying to get my things back in order. The first one would be my room and laundry situation, but I'm not going to touch on those till tomorrow, because I have towork in about an hour, and I'm extremely tired. So tomorrow will be nap and clean time!!!!
Sorry for the great length, I wanted to go into detail!!!!
Bye!
