My Surprise

Hey, remember that commercial I was bitching about a couple of days ago? The Constant security one, with the lowlife burglar?

Well, they have a new one. And it wasn't even funny the first time I heard it. It seems as though they decided to stick with the lowlife burglar, and now he's snuck into a house to rob it. The catchphrase of this commercial is "No ADT, B&E". Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. anyway. There's some news for ya.

My ____

Hey guys,

Sorry I've been lacking in blogging lately, it's been a very very busy week. I've been working a lot, and doing some research for a big assignment. There's a few stories to be told before long, and they'll be well worth the wait ;)

But the biggest news story of this week is:

BECCA AND BRETT ARE COMING!!!!!!!!!

Holy cow, how exciting is that?! I was quite positive that Brett wouldn't be able to get the time off, and was trying not to act sad about it, because it wouldn't be his fault if he couldn't come, but I received an email from Brett today, and all things are a go!

Yipee!!!

Oh, and all CPC-ers need to look out for Becca, she is both scary and evil at the same time! Sheldon, she's more famous than the famous Adam Hedley. That how big this is. It's a HUGE deal!

c'mon Posted by Hello

My Radio

So at work I listen to Rock 102. It's a decent station (better than 96.1 anyway), and I enjoy listening to today's best rock, with a great mix from the oldies (eagles, zeppelin, the beatles, you name it!)

But there's this on retarded commercial that keeps coming on. I can't stand it, but they just won't give up on it. I think they started airing it sometime before Christmas, and I've hated it since the second time I heard it (the first time was alright, I'll give it that).

Brodie, I'm sure you'll concur, since it's almost annoying as that Pride of Nova Scotia commercial on tv.

Here it goes:

Guy 1 (we'll call him Joe): Hello?
Guy 2 (we'll call him Steve): Hi, is Bob there?
Joe: No, I think he's at work right now.
Steve: Who's this?
Joe: Oh, I'm a low-life burglar doing a b&e.
Steve: A What?
Joe: A break and enter. Seems your pal Bob here doesn't have an ADT security system from Constant Security. Can I take a message?
Steve: Yeah. Tell him to call Constant Security at 373-3733.
Joe: 3-7-3-3. Got it. Gotta go. Gotta go rob Bob!

It's just awful. I can't stand it. It seems to come on all the freakin time too... *sigh* maybe I should start listening to another radio station... wait! Nevermind, all the other stations in Saskatoon suck balls! They don't play Velvet Revolver or Thornley or Collective Soul (by the way, those three bands will be in S'toon over the next couple of months! woo hoo!)

Anyway,
Gotta go! Gotta go rob Bob!

My Homework

Ok,

Well, I don't have much time, but I'd just like to say that I am sick to death of homework, school, tests, and classes.... and winter. They all need to go away, so I can go soak up some sun, and enjoy my friends and family. I'm getting too homesick for this shit!

My New Crush

Ok,

It's no real secret. I like Jack Johnson, I have for a while. But I just picked up his new cd, which in my humble opinion, is better than his previous On and On (no offense, Stew, but In Between Dreams is my kinda stuff!). I encourage you to pick up his album, because it's one of those cd's you can throw on and listen to all Saturday afternoon while you're relaxing on the couch.

His lyrics are also uber sweet. I love them. I only wish I could express some of those adorable romances he has in his songs...

Check out a song called Do You Remember:

Do you remember when we first met
I sure do
It was some time
In early September
Though you were lazy about it
You made me wait around
I was so crazy about you
I didn't mind
So I was late for class
I locked my bike to yours
It wasn't hard to find
Your painted flowers oh
Guess that I was afraid
That if you rode away
You might not roll back
My direction real soon
Well I was crazy about you then
And now the craziest thing of all
Over 10 years have gone by
And your still mine
Locked in time
Lets rewind

Do you remember
When we first moved in together
The piano took up the living room
You'd play me boogie woogie
I played you love songs
You'd say we're playing house
Now you still say we are
We built our get away
Up in a tree we found
We felt so far away
Though we were still in town
I remember watching
That old tree burn down
I took a picture that
I don't like to look at

Well all these times
They come and go
Along don't seem so long
Over 10 years have gone by
We cant rewind
We're looked in time
But your still mine

Do you remember?

The lyrics are sort of hard to follow without the song. But I love that he's so in love with this girl. It's awesome. Anyway, there's my romantic jargon for the day.

Buy Jack Johnson! (Jump on the bandwagon, Sarah, CONFORM!)

My Flinger's Experience

So, I went to work, eh?

All in all, it was a pretty fair night. It went by quickly, there weren't many major mishaps, and working with asshole Chris was evened out by working with Amanda and cool Chris. That, and I told asshole Chris to learn how to handcraft jewelry to sell, because he'll never make it as an actor. It felt good.

So anyway, it's about 5 to 10 p.m. (cst, for those of you keeping track), and I cash off my till to do a drawer balance, and then be on my way, when a nice young man asks if there any more condiments for the condiment bar, because he would like some salsa and jalapenos for his nachos. So, I obliged, and thoughtfully made small talk (which I hate) while I dug through the gigantic jars of pickles, saurkraut, and other disgusting toppings. I can't seem to find the jalapenos, and of course, it was in the very last container, which was a large sour cream container, with about the same circumference as a 4L pail of ice cream, but only about 1/4 of the depth, and not very sturdy. So I pick it up, it buckles/collapses, and jalapenos are everywhere! How annoying. So while my arms are burning from the oils of these lovely peppers, I rush to clean up, and get the hell out of there!

My stomach is now rumbling, and I decide to do the unthinkable. I went across the street to Mac's Convenience store in my Sev getup. I felt like Jennifer Aniston in Office Space (am I allowed to wear a sev uniform in a Mac's store?), and I talk to the staff there while I'm getting a sub at the express Subway they have there. Their uniforms are nicer, just a black vest instead of my fricken smock which is a nasty red color, that everything shows up on and stains, the aisles are nicer, lots of coolerspace, the boss looking guy in charge wasn't being all nazi on the customers.

And then it hit me. I love Mac's Convenience Stores. I wish to work in one now. Sev just doesn't do it for me. My feet hurt, my bosses usually have some teensy thing to nitpick at me about, and they are always complaining about me not being as flexable as I should be (even though I've skipped classes and missed church to work). So there was my experience for the day. No more awful advertising, harsh lighting, loud sounds of gas requests (Mac's doesn't have gas pumps), and smelling like deep fried chicken. I must revolt, but not until the fall, I think. I've only got a month left here in Saskatoon, so we'll see when I come back.

There are my thoughts for the day. Later!

My groupie/knight-in-shining-armor Posted by Hello

My Nerdy Movie

Four words:
This. Is. Spinal. Tap.

This movie is either lame or superior and hilarious. Check out a synopsis of the movie:

By many seen as the favorite cult classic (together with 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show') 'This is Spinal Tap' is truly a comedy masterpiece. The rockumentary about fake band Spinal Tap seems so honest and serious that the slightest joke gets a huge laugh. We follow the band together with a documentary filmmaker, played by director Rob Reiner, on a tour that must make sure they will have a comeback. We see some of their shows where things go wrong, we see how they argue about the cover of their album, and we see how a girlfriend almost destroys the band.

The movie handles all these events as serious as possible, presenting itself as a real documentary about a real band. The fact that the band members are not too bright makes it funny. Especially the scene where the lead singer talks about an amplifier that goes to eleven instead of ten and therefore produces louder sounds is hilarious. The scene where the band plays on a Stonehenge stage is a classic, very memorable.

I mean really, the knobs go to bloody ELEVEN! Rent the movie if you are a music nerd, you won't be disappointed!

My Copious Cowbell Coaching Capabilities

Alliteration aside, this story truly should be entitled Jana and the Cowbell

You see, as Jana's cowbell coach, it's okay to brag about her every once in a while. Monday night proved to be a fruitful one with our tour continuing in Winnipeg once again at Calvary Temple, this time playing the Link, which is a young adults night at the church (kind of like VCF P&W, but for those crazy Pentecostals).

The second song proved to be a heavy favorite in practise last week when we were rehearsing, but it seemed to be missing something. Then I looked over at Jana's djembe, and there it was. It was like a bright halo above it.... more cowbell. There was much hesitation to my suggestion, but after several Bruce Dickenson lines, and many giggles from Jana, Jason, Sarah, Piper and Nici, we all agreed that the cowbell would be most pleasurable.

But Jana's said skills seemed to be lacking. So I naturally took it upon myself to be her new coach. "MOWAH COWBELL!" I would shout, but she just couldn't get into the groove. So I commandeered the stick from her, and put my hips into it. So that was that. Jana was set to play the cowbell.

Then came practise last night. She needed the oomph. It wasn't there. She must have lost the anointing or something. There was no heart in this cowbell playing. "More!" I would shout, "I gotta have more cowbell, baby!" She seemed to get the point in practise. It was going to be good.

Then came the set. The first song Forever was a little shaky to begin with, but we settled into a nice groove after the conga solo. But it must have been tiring on poor Jana, because she was up to her crazy quiet antics again when it came time for the cowbell to shine

"more, more, MORE, MORE!!!!!!!!!!! C'MON, I GOTTA HAVE MOWAH COWBELL!" Well, along came a verse, and Jana was really into it, and I was off in my corner doing my thing on bass, and I was suddenly startled by something... is that a hunk of wood on my shirt.... wait a second, Jana is panicking, with a broken stick in hand... YES! SHE MEANS IT!!!!!

Jana, Bruce would be proud of your cowbell prowess, as would Blue Oyster Cult. You have made us all proud, and it's a guaranteed 'thumbs up' from the Brett laugh factory.

Have a good night guys! It's good to be in my room at school again, chillin to Jack Johnson's new cd!

My Layla Street Adventure

Ok,
So I'm still in Winnipeg, and boy was today an adventure.

This morning was kicked off by a lovely stop at Evangel Chapel, which, by the way, has one of the nicest sound systems ever! Coincidentally, they're looking for a senior pastor right now (coughtylercough). We played 2 morning services, and they were both awesome. We also had like the best jam session ever, and got to hear Dr. Munk preach. It was intriguing.

Brett and Becca played the part of groupies/roadies again today, and are an integral part of the unfolding of the story that I have for you.

Anyway, they showed up for the second service, and we had dinner downstairs afterwards. I sat next to a man with the most ear hair I've ever seen, and Becca regailed Nici and Jana with our tales of adventure's past. After church, we were free to go for about an hour and a half, so I took off with Becca and Brett to St. Vital Mall and we went to Moxie's for drinks and appetizers (the non-alcoholic kind, guys!). It was good times, but we decided to leave a little bit early so that we would be at the church on time for practise and setup.

Cue to us driving pretty much as far north as you can go on Maine, and then a little ways down Layla Street. We drove for about half an hour. Then we show up at Emmanuel Pentecostal Tabernacle. No one is there. We beat Jason and co! How awesome is that? ...and he was lecturing me of being late! Ha, pft!

Wait a second, there's no other cars here! That sign says the evening service starts at 7, we were told 6... wait, I think that sign is spelled wrong... no... we're at the wrong bloody church!!!!!!! We're supposed to be at Immanuel Pentecostal Church! Fricken frick frick! FRICK!

So a quick check in a phone book, and yep, there's two churches with the same name, but just different spellings. We go for a period of Brett feeling bad about getting the wrong church, and consult a map for directions...

Of course! Immanuel is on the other fricken side of the city! GOSH!

So we went from being exactly on time to exactly an hour late. Winnipeg takes forever to drive across. I thought I was dead meat, Brett felt absolutely horrible, and Becca laughed so hard, I think she may have peeed a little. We decided that today was a story in the making. We had some awesome times being in the wrong end of Winnipeg.

So we get to the church, and Brett still feels bad. Luckily enough, both barrels were not blasting, and the band was understanding, while Becca was still highly amused.

We proceeded to have more supper in the gym at the church, and more stories were swapped, while Sarah revealed her true side that Brett was hoping so much to see.

After church, it was off to BP's, and we enjoyed the fellowship under the banner of peace. (lol). Becca enjoyed telling more tales, and I dropped a piece of pizza in my lap.

Finish the night off with an amazing picture of me and Brett, and another half hour trek across the city, with us taking random pictures of Joe strangling Piper, and here we are, back at the Kendrick's house.

I'm sure Becca and Brett will blog on these events as well, and I encourage you to check out their perspectives on these tales!

Have a good night!

My Tiredness

I really need to get to bed earlier.

I got home from work at about 20 after 1 last night, and I went to bed at about 2:30. Actually, that was the time that the lights went out. I decided to throw on a few episodes of Arrested Development while I was drifting off (good show by the way, I highly recommend watching it). So in all likelyhood, I didn't really start sleeping till about 3am, or later. Much too late. And then I had to get up at 10 to 8... not pleasant. I'm sure it could be worse though.

So now I'm here in Winnipeg, and I'm enjoying the lovely home of Sarah and Joe Kendrick, and I'm faced with a dilemma.... you see, everyone is out, except for Nicci and I, and it would be very nice to go to bed... but on the other hand, a very handsome man just signed onto MSN.

I feel like I'm rambling too much now. Winnipeg is really nice, we drove by the forks today, and we're playing Evangel in the morning... 2 services, man! I even have fancy headphone monitors. Good times will be had by all, I tells ya.

so off to read blogs in my lethargic stupor, and I'll try to make a coherant post in the near future.

My Favorite Thing

Me and Mr. Posted by Hello

This picture actually says a lot about a few of my favorite things:
-For starters, I'm playing guitar, which is an obvious favorite.
-I'm also singing, which I also love to do with my guitar.
-I'm wearing a led zeppelin tshirt. Zeppelin rules!
-I'm wearing emo glasses and wrist cuffs.

There's just something I like about this picture... don't ask why, I just do!

My Man Towel Has Returned (Ear Muffs, Brett)

So today was open dorm.

I enjoy open dorm, because you get to go see the backwardsness of the guy's dorm, smell all the awful guy smells (or the coverup cologne they sprayed frantically 10 minutes before we were allowed to go in), awake Scott and Matt from their slumber, and view all the strangenesses that come along with being a guy. Not to mention, they get to come see our freshly vacuumed, insanely organized shelves, and experience our freshmade beds. Plus, I always throw something on my computer, like Arrested Development, or American Dad. Last semester was very fun, but uneventful.

This semester was very similar, except I decided to make the guys at least a little uncomfortable (Brett, I'm serious, EAR MUFFS). Erin and I proudly put our tampon boxes on display, and I decided to hang up my erotic man towel, which is bascially a towel of a half naked early 90's guy in very tiny ripped shorts.

Most of the guys just laughed at it. But poor, poor innocent Piper. He was the last guy in our room, and we had about 25 minutes till supper, so I threw on another tv show. I was contently watching from my bed, and Daniel appeared to enjoy the episode as well, but he just couldn't stop staring at the towel that I had taped to the wall. He asked something like 'where did you buy it?'... but it was just too funny. He seemed intimidated by the towel.

Now, I know while this may be amusing for some, but Rebecca is likely laughing her ass off at this. You see, when we used to live together, our overnight guests (guys and girls) were required to use this towel if they didn't bring their own. It was a rule, like on Scrubs, if someone stayed with Turk and JD, they had to supply some tp. Oh the man towel rule....
lol
Boorman used to complain about it... I'm pretty sure he started bringing his own towel.
And then there was the time that Stew stayed over when his apartment was getting painted... he actually woke me up to beg me to give him a different towel, lol. Luckily for him, the man towel was dirty. I mean, it had been used. Of course it's dirty.

That towel is a sign of singlehood. I'm sure I'll pass it down to the next deserving girl once I find my permanent other half, as my sister gave me that towel when she shacked up with Lynton. Besides, what man would let that towel sit on the towel rack? Not the kind who want women, that's for sure. I wish I had a picture of this towel. Why isn't Nicole around tonight with her digital camera, so I can display this picture in all its glory!!!!

Anyway, there's my story for the day.
Have a good night, guys!

My Nephew

This is my new nephew, Cohen Posted by Hello
Ain't he cute?!?!?!?

My Inspiration Du Jour (said in Cajun Man Accent)

Well,

Today was looking rather normal, until I decided to show up early for Synoptic Gospels. First, Matthew teased me that he had met my nephew, and then I got teased about doing homework... Mr. Glubish decided to pipe in. I think he enjoys watching students get burned... lol. But anyway, because a lot of people showed up early, he read an entry from his daughter's blog that was absolutely stunningly hilarious. I hope she doens't mind that I linked it, but you guys have to read it. It's awesome!!!!

CLICKY

Enjoy!

oh and ps, I felt inspired to go to Tim's after that class and get my usual, and lo and behold, I won a free donut! Win #1 for this season!

My Rock

Let's cut to the chase....

I have friends who are passionately opposite about the subject of Eternal Security. Now as a student at a Pentecostal college, I'm supposed to side against it, but really, I'm not entirely sure. I'm going to remain with a 'no comment' about it, and I'll keep my opinion to myself.

Just let me tell you what bothers me about this argument when it is being debated... both sides start off with....

"Let' s say that this guy...... and then he falls away.... *insert arguments for your side*"

Hypothetical arguments don't work because they never happen realistically....

Yes, a person can become discouraged and stop serving God, and get all jaded about the church... does that mean they lose their salvation? Who knows?!?!? Do we know what their heart looks like? Maybe they wrestle every night, asking God all the hard questions. Yes, I know it says somewhere in James that faith without works is dead... but there comes a point in every person's life that they wrestle with God, and their faith is small. Works are not for us to see, that's God's business. Maybe every night they play with their Oija boards... is it our business to judge them? No, so step off!

Just let me tell you a few things about Salvation:

1. It's not a guilt tool that the church can use to make everyone feel bad about themselves.
Pastors, quit threatening your congregation and telling them they're awful Christians. Some people have faith struggles that only God can lead them through. This was exactly one thing that I deathly feared as a child, and cried myself to sleep about some nights. I was still a Christian, even though I hit my little brother with a golf putter. I was still a Christian, but I had sinned. There's the difference.

2. It's free. Yes, faith without works is dead (after we are saved.. not before), BUT, Ephesians 2:8+9 tells us that we don't have to do anything but have faith to be saved (before we're Christians, and to maintain our salvation).

3. No one can take away your salvation... I had a verse memorized in highschool...
John 10-:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. That SOB pastor that keeps threatening you to repent can't take your salvation away. God's not going to take it away because you've been a pisspoor Christian lately.

God is going to look at your heart. Not the guy down the street. So quit using hypothetical arguments about eternal security, because we really don't know what is going to happen. Focus on what is in your hearts, and start growing your relationship with Christ.

My PreMeditated Synopsis

I'm highly annoyed today.

Don't get me wrong, it's been a decent day, but I'm just not in the best of moods (ear muffs, Brett).

I made a killer presentation today in Issues class, I was actually quite pleased with it, and then I went out to Poverino's for lunch with my class. Good times.

Then I got some mail. Student loans are so retarded. Why would they give me a loan, but make it out for a thousand dollars short for what I need? Don't worry about me, I'll be fine, Governmnent of Manitoba.... JERKS! Anyway, that's my peeve for the day. I should be able to afford it, but it just makes things soooo stressful. Why do they do this to people... they're loans. They're meant to be repaid... If I had the money to be able to afford school without loans, then I wouldn't have applied for one in the first place. But no, I'm poor, thus I need money... and not a thousand dollars short of my tuition, assholes!

AAAAAnyway.... I will persevere... today will be a good day!

My Tunnel

It's March.
I'm 3/4 of the way through my school year. I can almost taste May. The light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to shine!

Here's a few things that are going on in my world lately.....

My sister sent me pictures of the lovely new baby in her family, I'll post them later if she gives me permission to. Cohen is a lovely lookin boy, and I can't wait to go out there to see him and congratulate his big sisters.

I've become really apathetic about school lately. I know it's the home stretch for the school year, but I remember being like this even in high school. It's hard to focus when you're dreaming of summer. If people could pray for focus and perseverance, I'd like that. It seems like such a struggle some days to even get up for class! :S

Work is so hectic. March and April are probably the hardest months to adjust to at sev because that's when traffic really begins to pick up. You have to adjust from no one being in the store to all out utter chaos, usually within that first week that it starts to melt, and it doesn't slow down until September or October. It's also nice that I'm getting more hours at work. A nice paycheck will definitely help me do some catching up that desperately needs to be done! I also had a really good couple of days at work this weekend (minus a debate with Chris S., but I'll explain that later). I forgot how much fun drunk people are on mids, and how much fun it is to lip them off when they're being stupid. I also had a good time working with Brandi, a manager in training at our store. She's got such a good sense of humor, and it really brightened my day.

Chris S. and I had a theological 'debate' last night. I use bunny ears on debate because he really wanted to know why I believed in creationism so he could tell me how stupid my theories were. Then he kept interrupting me, so I basically blew him off and told him he was an ass, and if he wanted to talk about it, he'd have to find a better way to do it. Evoluntionists are like that....

The weather has really picked up my spirits lately. There's nothing better than a beautiful day. It smelled like spring yesterday, I can't wait until all the snow is gone!

Neat growth story for me today. I talked to God before I ate. It wasn't fake and obligatory either. I actually thanked God for the food He provided for me. I like that, it makes me feel better about my relationship with Him.

My friend's grandfather died today as well. They're going to be just fine, but it's always sad when a family member dies. I'll try to keep you in my prayers!

I've had Let My Words Be Few in my head for the last few days. I think it's a really powerful song... that, and Brett really likes it too. I think I'll do it when I lead worship next. Actually, I'm going to go pick up my guitar and play it now. Have a good day guys!

My Lotion

I have a lovely bottle of lotion that sits on my desk right now. It smells like coconut. I've never been one for this Hawaiian mystery, but I've come to enjoy the scent recently for some reason.

It reminds me of summer. I feel like I just went tanning or something. Like I've ever tanned before, lol.

So today was another beautiful spring day. I love the first few days of spring, where it's like +5 outside, the sun is shining, and you can walk around in a lighter jacket or sweater. It was even raining tonight on the way home. And not the bad kind, either. It was so warm outside!!!! YAY!

Anyway, enough about my enjoyment of spring. I've come to an important decision that I need to make, and I'd love your guy's input:

should Napoleon replace Josie on the hierarchy of movies???? I have favorites that surpass the two, but I'm at a crossroads here.....

HELP!!!!

My Kids

Ok,
No, I didn't hide a pregnancy for 9 months and give birth to septuplets. That wouldn't be true at all. There's many things I could say to fight that rumor, but you all know that it's not like me to go off and take fertility drugs and have sex...

SOOOO...
my kids all come to Preston Avenue Church every Thursday to hang out, play games, sing songs, write in their journals, make crafts, and do memory verses. Numbers every week can range from 3 to 25 kids, but we always have fun.

I remember one night we sat in a big circle and sang worship songs. I love hearing little kids sing to God, there's just something so innocent about it that melts your heart, and causes you to think about how true your worship is.

One thing you must know about children is that they have so much energy. An hour and a half with these kids drains me so much, but I have so much fun with them. Kids are the ultimate hiders in a game of hide and seek. I usually spend like 10 minutes finding the first one, and then they have to help me find the others.

There's also such fun games as frozen tag, chain tag, beach ball volleyball, leap frog, paperbag races, crabwalking, and their favorite- piggy back on Terrin until she can't move anymore!

But it really is rewarding work. I get to pray with these kids every week, teach them about God, and I've even led 3 of them to Jesus. I know that this is defnitely a worthwhile investment, and even though kids aren't always my thing, I know that simply being with them is a huge blessing from God!

My Roomate

Today is officially "HAPPY ROOMMATE'S DAY!"

In honour of this fine occasion, Erin and I decided to sleep in through our first 2 classes!
We gave each other gifts, and shout "happy roommate's day!" Whenever we see each other. She gave me a used bottle of coconut flavored lotion, and I gave her a stick of gum. I also commented on how greasy her hair looked... lol!

Make sure you tell your roommate how much you appreciate them, and mark March 3rd on your calendars every year you have a roommate!

My Random Ramblings re: Work

9 Seconds.
That's the amount of time it takes for my opinion of you as a customer to change at work.

Allow me to elaborate.
It's my estimation that about 75% of all customers are now currently using debit and credit cards. This is not really an inconvenience for me, as it takes about 9 seconds to approve a transaction (using change is sometimes even longer, especially when that old lady can't seem to find a penny in her 400 gallon purse), it really only requires the pushing in of the amount on the debit machine, and a manual credit button on my till. So 9 seconds really isn't that much of a delay per customer.

But it's those 9 seconds that my opinion can change of you as a good customer. To understand this, you first need to understand one thing:

As a representative of The Southland Corportation (or 7-Eleven Canada), your purchase belongs to me until you have paid for it. That means,
-> Don't proceed to put things into your pockets
-> Don't open the plastic wrap on your cigarettes
-> Don't eat your food, or open your drink
-> Don't walk away.
You see, that stuff is my responsibility until you hear the beep coming from the debit machine, and I ask you if you want your receipt. If that thing beeps twice, and you are gone, or the product is comprimised, it doesn't make my job very easy. So really, waiting for that extra few seconds to open up your Player's Ultra Light (king size) really makes all the difference in the world.

Now, to address those in the dark ages:
Money is fine. I've been working at 7-Eleven for 2 years now. I'm a pro with it. It's fine if you want to give me exact change, in fact, I don't mind at all.
But if I'm already digging around for that 41 cents, please don't all of the sudden find 50 cents in your wallet, and expect me to put all my change back just so you get 9 cents, instead of 41. Believe me, if I could really react the way I wanted to, that change would be coming out of very unfamiliar places on your body after I was done with you.

So some final tips for customers:
1. Have your money out in advance, especially if your garments have pockets that take a little digging to get at
2. Don't be on your cell phone (I may blog about this someday in the future!!!)
3. Don't say 'maybe' if I ask if you want a bag
4. Don't call the store in advance to ask about products, lottery numbers, or services. Really, we're quite busy, and you are more of a nuisance to us, plus, we will laugh at you.
5. Be polite to us, we are required to do it for you.

Using common sense will make my day much nicer, and then I won't want to quit my job as much (only a little less though).

Have a nice day! Thank you, come again!

My March

Well, as we delve into the mystery that is the month of March, I'd love to tell you all about the tour of Portage/Winnipeg in a point-by-point synopsis

-Saturday morning, 9:15 as we're getting ready to go, my mom calls me and tells me of my new nephew, Kohen Lynton Daniel Howes, weighing in at 9 pounds! (I don't know if I spelled his first name right, mom didn't tell me that part). So I was quite excited as we left the city for our trek east.

-The trip was very safe and sunny, with stops in Regina for gas and taquitos, Moosomin for Dairy Queen and a driver switch, Brandon for drumsticks, gas and a phonecall to Brett (in which i told Jason to 'piss off' in the process), and finally, Portage, where we immediately set up the stage and proceeded downstairs for a bucket of fried chicken. (We also teased Piper from Moosomin to Portage for his slowness in driving)

-While downstairs at the church I was waiting very patiently for Rebecca and Brett to show up, while the rest of the team teased me with "Did the door just open!!!!!!!!" Jerks. I was getting a little antsy, but after supper, we went upstairs to practise, and Brett called me to inform me that they would be showing up, I couldn't wait!!!! So, I missed the first 2 practise songs while I waited by the door... then finally, i propped it open with a broom and made a mad dash for the stage, and tried to act as normal as possible.

-The arrival. They walked in. I almost wet myself, and everyone in the band was making fun of me in their heads as we practised. At the end of the song, Daniel shouted out 'greetings!' and we continued on with our practise for a few more songs, and I couldn't stop smiling!

-After the practise, I ran to the back of the sanctuary, gave hugs, introduced the gang (and introduced Becca as 'scary'), figured out billets, and headed off to Gail's for supper and entertainment. (People feed us too much on these trips, honestly, that day, I ate a muffin, a taquito, a hotdog, chicken, french fries, coleslaw, a dinner roll, lasagna, and chips). We decided to play a word/picture puzzle game that I was half good at, and half bad at. I'm currently waiting for my official membership to the 'unblond' club to arrive in the mail. I mean, some were just so obvious that I over analyzed them, and came up with stupid answers for, others I would blurt out without realizing that it was the answer... to be brief, it made me feel very stupid at times. Then came sequence, which I almost won a couple of times with Kendra, but the Tanya/Brett force proved too strong. The night ended off with a ride to my billets, and a lovely kiss....

-The next day was a casual start, I didn't have to get up early at all, like 9, which is phenominal for when we're on tour. I've woken up at 4:30 before to be on the road, so this was manageable. I was the first to arrive at the church of the team, so I proceeded to set up the promo table, and say hi to Mr. Stiller (who obviously doesn't know my name). Then came the church service, 15 minutes before I had expected, so that made my friends 15 minutes late. Sorry guys, the website told me 10:45!!!!!!!!! The service went well, but the preaching was too long. So yeah. Too long. After that was a lovely all chopsticks meal at Dick's Cafe, and then back into the van.

-The drive to Winnipeg was uneventful, and we went to Sarah's place to hang out and relax. Of course, food was involved. So far, I had eaten chinese for lunch, and they fed us chips of all varieties, along with iced tea (made with real lime). After settling down at the Kendrick's, we got dressed and arrived at the church at 4:30 for a soundcheck, where we set up our stage, and jammed a little, and I adjusted to the v-drums once again. After that, they fed us pizza, and Sara, Jana and I looked for a phone to warn the others of the different service time (luckily, they were already en route, so it wasn't as big of deal as I had planned). upon their arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Fishey, Brod, Karyn, Andrew, Becca and Brett. My posse had arrived!

-We sat as a band together on the side during the praise and worship, and then we were called on stage to do the offering and our set. All 3 songs went really well, especially Audience of One, because I HATE 6/8 time when I'm on the drums. We got a good response from the audience, and a nice embarassing comment about my drum playing from the senior pastor. If only he knew I was the regular bass player, lol. It was really good. Then I went and sat with my crew, and got to hold my man's hand. It was very nice. I like going to church with Brett, I especially like standing beside him when we sing. It's so nice to hear him sing, because he always sings his heart out ;). We sat through another eternal sermon, I introduced my posse to a couple of the interns from the school, and we gathered downstairs under the umbrella of fellowship, lol.

-Downstairs, we had a nice time, and the band came and sat with the posse, and I ended up selling my drumsticks to a 10 year old, whom Andrew had connected with. I also signed them, along with others in the group. The kid now thinks that Brett is a pilot from Arizona. How interesting... and Becca's storytelling has now infiltrated the likes of my group. Jana especially enjoyed the stories of me sleeping. After fellowship we went and had a tour of the church, and then we had to say good bye to Becca and Brett, as it was getting late (and yes, I most definitely did kiss him goodbye, I don't get to see him that often, dammit!)

-After church, we then went to Moxie's for drinks and appetizers, and we got to chat it up with Pastor Trevor, who is the young adult's pastor at CT. He seems nice. In 2 weeks when we go back to Winnipeg, we'll be staying an extra day to do their young adult's night. He also paid for our food, which was an incredibly nice thing to do for us poor college students.

-When we finally got back to Sarah's house, we went downstairs and relaxed until bedtime. We then woke up at about 7:40 am to get going back home. The ride home was fairly uneventful, but we did see 5 cars in the ditch. Kind of unsettling. All well. We made it home safe!

Now it's back to normal time here, and I'm trying to get my things back in order. The first one would be my room and laundry situation, but I'm not going to touch on those till tomorrow, because I have towork in about an hour, and I'm extremely tired. So tomorrow will be nap and clean time!!!!

Sorry for the great length, I wanted to go into detail!!!!
Bye!
